It's the question everyone with a heart wants the answer to.
Just how can you dump someone and minimise the pain?
It's a tough one, and it's never going to be an easy one.
We can start by telling you how to definitely NOT do it! Big NO NOs for dumping are:
By text message
"Sorry I can't see you anymore"
"It's not you, it's me, but it's over"
"I do love you but it just isn't working"
etc etc... never do this - it makes the other person feel pretty worthless.
By just not returning their calls
This is just plain mean, the other person might not even realise anything is wrong. You'll be making a fool out of them as they repeatedly try to contact you.
By Phone
This is sometimes acceptable, but most times isn't! Even though you're feeling bad about what you're doing the person you're dumping can't see that... all they hear are your words - and that's not good.
So how do you do it?
Tell us below what you think...
Here at Staying Alive, we think the best thing to do is meet up with the person and explain how you're feeling. This is good for two reasons - firstly, it shows you care and secondly, you may even discover the issue you had isn't even a problem - by talking honestly you might even end up sorting out your problems!
