It’s on again! Just 48 hours for six teams to script, shoot and edit a short film. But there can only be one winner!

The date is 3rd of July, the location; the robust city of Nairobi in Kenya, the occasion; the first ever Women’s Summit on Leadership on HIV and AIDS. 30 young people attending the summit will get the opportunity to produce short films that will be seen by a worldwide audience.

So this is the deal: Six teams of five delegates have just two days to produce their films from scratch. These films will look at the many challenges of HIV and AIDS, but take a female slant on them – however, the films aren’t just targeted at women, in fact everyone might learn something. A panel of expert judges, including acclaimed director Bryan Barber (Idlewild, a host of OutKast videos, including Hey Ya, John Legend’s Save Room, Christina Aquilera’s Ain’t No Other Man and a host of other videos) will then determine which team wins the 48Fest challenge.

The films will be thought-provoking, emotive, creative and shot on zero budget – how well will the teams fare?

48Fest Kenya follows on from the success of 48Fest held at the International AIDS Conference in Toronto last year. The films from last year are now all award–winning, picking up gongs at the New York AIDS Film Festival and the runner up prize at the New York Film Festival.
